Privacy Policy

Effective October 25, 2026

Savocado is a grocery price-comparison app for iPhone. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with and the choices you have. We built Savocado to work without an account, and we collect as little as we can.

In short: we use your area to find nearby stores and prices; we don't sell your data, show ads or track you across other apps; assistant questions are sent to Anthropic's Claude only after you agree; you can delete your data from the app at any time.

What we collect

DataWhy
Your location area: the ZIP code you enter, or your location when you choose "Use my current location"To find stores near you and show their prices. Your ZIP or location stays on your device. Each search sends coordinates (your ZIP code's center, or your location to within about 100 meters) to our servers; our search log keeps them with the search (see "How long we keep data").
An anonymous account identifierCreated automatically so your price watches, assistant limits and Savocado+ status work. It isn't linked to your name or email.
Sign in with Apple (optional)If you choose to sign in, Apple gives us a private user identifier and, if you allow it, an email address (which Apple can hide behind a relay address). We use them only so your lists, price alerts and Savocado+ follow you to a new phone. We never get your Apple password.
Your searches, shopping list items you price, and price watchesTo look up prices, compare your list across stores and alert you when a price drops. Lists are stored on your device.
Questions you ask the assistant and photos you choose to share with itTo answer you (see "AI assistant" below).
A push notification token, if you allow notificationsTo send price-drop alerts for items you watch.
Purchase status from AppleTo unlock Savocado+. Apple processes payments; we never see your card details.
Reports you send (a wrong price or an assistant answer)To fix data and improve answers.
Emails you send usTo answer you and fix problems you report.
Your IP address and how many requests you sendTo block abuse and keep Savocado running for everyone (rate limits). Stored with your account identifier only as short-lived counters, deleted automatically within 3 days.

We don't ask for your name. We get an email address only if you sign in with Apple and choose to share it, or if you email us. We don't collect your contacts, and the app has no advertising or analytics SDKs.

AI assistant

When you use "Ask Savocado", your question, your general area (ZIP code or approximate coordinates) and any photo you attach are sent to Anthropic, PBC, which provides the Claude AI model, to generate an answer. We ask for your permission before the first question. We don't send your name or email. Please don't include personal information in questions or photos. AI answers can be wrong and are not medical, nutrition or financial advice.

Who we share data with

Only with service providers that help run Savocado, and only what they need:

We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may disclose information if required by law.

How long we keep data

Price watches, push tokens and assistant usage counts are kept until you delete them or your account. Assistant reports and search logs are kept until we delete them; search logs are not linked to you after account deletion. Rate-limit counters (your IP address or account identifier and a request count) are deleted automatically within 3 days, including after you delete your account. Support emails are kept as long as we need them to help you.

Your choices

Children

Savocado is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has used Savocado, contact us and we'll delete the data.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and stored with access controls. No system is perfectly secure, so we collect as little as possible.

Do Not Track and this website

Savocado doesn't track you across other companies' apps or websites and doesn't let anyone else do so through Savocado, so we treat everyone the same whether or not their browser sends a Do Not Track signal. This website is hosted by Cloudflare, which receives your IP address when you visit, as any web host does. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are viewed, which websites visitors came from, and their country, device type and browser. Cloudflare says Web Analytics uses no cookies or fingerprinting and doesn't track visitors across websites. This website has no ads or ad pixels. The only cookie it may set is a short-lived security cookie, if Cloudflare needs to check that a visitor isn't a bot (Cloudflare's privacy policy).

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
